Guidelines on the requirements of BS EN 60439-1

 INTRODUCTION

These guidelines have been prepared with a view to assist clients understand the requirements of BS EN 60439-1, the International standard for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear ASSEMBLIES.

This document is not a legally binding interpretation of the standard. However, it represents a reference for clients so that they can ensure their suppliers apply the standard consistently and correctly.

The issues covered by these guidelines are:

• the scope of the standard BS EN 60439-1
• the safety requirements applicable
• the conformity assessment procedure applicable
• the relationships with certain other Directives.
